On some of our projects, you might have seen some calligraphy name tags, menus, signage or other.
Take a look behind the scenes of this calligraphy service we offer at Antoinette Design through this article ...
Sophie-Caroline (aka "Soka") is the one behind our calligraphy hand writing service. Self-thought, she began to learn by observing any writing on events & projects which she could participate and/or organise. Afterwards, she took part to a course of old style calligraphy called « à l’ancienne » to learn manipulating a true feather and different inks. Now, she's pursuing her training « à l’ancienne » to be able to include the old style way to her modern writing and interpret by herself.
The calligrapher begins with defining the style according to the event / the project. She defines a global aesthetic of it with the customer. To help on that, we have a large book including all the styles we can suggest.
Once the red thread is defined, it is necessary to choose the support ; it can be paper, wood, concrete, ceramic, or even glass. You can be more creative & fun with the support, and imagine something like fruits, vegetables, leaves, ...
Indeed, the support type will be important to define the color ink and the choice between a pen or a felt-tip pen according to the wished style.
Our in-house calligrapher can create envelopes, name tags, invitations, cards, menus, welcome signs and many other elements. To complete a project, the client must send a complete list of what needs to be written. She sends a first draft to the client to confirm or adapt with some changes. Finally, she produces to the event placement, this service completing our decoration service.
